![]() As we continue our week long celebration in recognition of National Princess Week, I can't help but be reminded of the countless Disney Princesses that we have come to love or hate. From Cinderella who was misunderstood and mistreated by her family; to Mulan, the bold and brave warrior Princess; to Princess Tiana who was committed to working as hard as possible to make her dreams come true, we can all find a quality or two from the long list of fairy tale Princesses that likely remind us of ourselves. However, today, I want you to put your perceptions and thought of all the wonderful fairy tale Princesses aside, and let's talk for a minute about real royalty. Take a look in the mirror and as you look at the reflection staring back at you, say hello to an image of true royalty. Yes, that's right. You are the daughter of God, The King of kings, which makes you royalty. The same God who hung the stars, the moon and the sky, is the same God that calls you His child. I'm not making this up you know? You have a Heavenly Father who loves you so much that He paid the ultimate price for you. Your position as the daughter of the King has nothing at all to do with you looks, your accomplishments or your intellect. Instead, it has everything to do with His enormous love for you. If you think I'm kidding, just take a look at Romans 8:15-17.
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ The word "Abba" referenced in this passage means Daddy. It's not complicated at all. In fact it's quite simple. God sent His son Jesus to die for you and me, trading His crown of thorns so we, as daughters of God, could wear our royal crowns. This priceless exchange was made for anyone who would simply accept and believe this simple truth. He chose you (Ephesians 1:4-5) Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. It is time that we awaken from our slumber and wipe the sleep from our eyes. There are many messages around us that we hear and see daily that are simply sent to distract us. In many instances they can almost place us in a hypnotic state that has us believing a lie about who we are and our value as women and girls. Today, allow the alarm of truth to ring loudly in your heart and mind (and don't hit the snooze button). Instead open your eyes and ears to hear the truth and remind yourself that you are a Royal Princess, the daughter of The King of kings. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. It's time to wake up sleeping beauty and dust off your crown. Despite your currently situation or obstacles you may be facing at this time, your Father in Heaven has an incredible plan and purpose for your life, however, you must be alive, awake, alert and motivated in order to receive it and begin to walk in it. Priceless Point to Ponder: How does it feel to be adopted into the Royal family of God?
