Release the pressure and breathe

The pressure of perfection is real...Are you waiting for the perfect time?  The perfect to finish that project, start that business or to sit down and begin writing that book.  Are you waiting for the perfect time to begin your new work-out plan, apply for school or perhaps to get up the nerve to leave that unhealthy relationship or friendship?

As I tell my clients often, there will never be a perfect time to do anything.  You will never have enough experience.  There will never be extra hours added to your day. You will never find yourself at the pinnacle place where all things line up.  The reality is, we are all a constant work in progress and will be until the day we take our last breath.

The good news, however, is that we have an opportunity each day to move in the direction of our purpose.  I am a firm believer that each of us was designed for a specific purpose and until we begin to tap into that purpose and begin to walk in it, we will always struggle with feelings of unfulfillment.   

Having been one who sought perfection in many areas of life, I'm here to tell you, it doesn't exist. It's kind of like a mirage, much like we see dramatized in movies about the desert.  Here you are on a long journey (called life), trying to make it your destination (the fulfillment of your purpose).  It's hot, it's hard and you have thought about giving up at many points along the path.  As you affix your eyes on what you think will be the answer to your inner thirst (perfection), you reach out to grab it only to find out you have been fooled once again.  Perfection is a figment of our imagination.  No matter how much we pursue it, it will always remain just out of reach. 

The reality is God doesn't call us to be perfect.  In fact, there is no once currently on earth who is.  What He has called us to do is to fulfill the purpose He has custom created for us.  Once we realize this, it allows us to remove the pressure (much of which is self-imposed), and begin to take steps each day that get us closer towards our God given purpose.  Take a moment and catch your breath girl.  Free yourself from the chains of perfection and instead, muster up the confidence and courage to take a step towards your divine destiny.  As you take one step, God will surely begin to direct your path and give you what you need along the way.  I'm not telling you what I think...I'm telling you what I know.  ​
