Part of identifying the source or the lack of confidence also includes recognizing the root. We can often track our lack of confidence to something in particular. Whether it is something a classmate teased us about as a child, an insecurity a parent or peer planted in our heads, or a failure or struggle we have found hard to overcome. Acknowledging the sources of our insecurity is the first step, but then we have to face this issue head on. We have to begin to create a new recording in our minds. I am in no way minimizing the process, because a process is exactly what it is. It's not a quick fix answer to building confidence, but it takes time and consistency. It also take honesty in acknowledging that our feelings are fickle. We can wake up one day ready to slay, and by noon be ready to climb under a rock somewhere. Why is that about? It's because our feelings are fickle and they are moved by so many things. But in my opinion, true confidence comes in knowing WHO you are and knowing WHOSE you are. True confidence for me is having a confidence that is rooted in Christ. Knowing that I am the daughter of the King and through Him I can do anything. Yes, there are and will likely always be areas that I may struggle or be looking to improve is some way, but what is consistent is what God says about me and thinks about me. Unlike my fickle feelings, God's word is constant and unchanging. He doesn't say one thing about me one day and then change it up another. Everything He has said about you and me has been determined from the beginning of time. He knit each of us together in our mother's womb and created us for a divine purpose. He packed each of us with unique gifts, talents and abilities. He has given each of us a unique path and purpose and staying the course is part of our journey. Despite how we feel, whether we feel worthy or well equipped, the reality is He has provided everything we need and when we feel like we are unable to do something, we need to simply give our heads a shake and remind ourselves of whose we are and what we are made of. We have to draw from Him and not from our own strength and we have to constantly remind ourselves of this fact. In the coming weeks I will be doing a series on Confidence Killers so we can begin to recognize the subtle things that kill and crush our confidence daily. Being able to clearly identify these things will make it easier to guard our confidence and truly walk in our destiny without allowing our insecurities to get in the way. I hope you will join me on this journey. PRICELESS PRAYER Dear God, please help me keep my eyes focused on you. Please silence the voices within that will tell me all the ways I fall short. Let me instead focus on your precious love and the grace you shower on me daily. Let me draw from your strength and not my own and be reminded daily that I am more than enough. I was fearfully and wonderfully made and you have equipped me with everything I need to do what you have called me to do. Amen!
