It is not business as usual

We have come to a cross road in our nation and world.  Will we continue with business as usual or will we find the courage to enact real change in our world? 

As we look at our streets full of protesters of all ages and races, it's easy to formulate opinions and cast judgement.  Those who are rallying in peace literally risking their lives to give voice in the streets despite being in the middle of a global pandemic,  have taken one simple step to say enough is enough. 

Let's be crystal clear, I don't condone violence, looting and foolishness, and recognize those who are not seeking solutions but instead want to continue to divide and wreak havoc. However, I commend those whose hearts are pure and who are out protesting in peace and obeying the law to simply give voice to the cause. They have started where they are and have determined that silence is no longer an option.

From coast to coast and continent to continent, people have determined ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!  As we try to catch our breath, though our brother George Floyd wasn't given that opportunity, we must ask ourselves how we got to this point?

Could it be based on silence that speak volumes?  Could it be based on the comfort and a desire not be made uncomfortable? Could it be from mental and social conditioning that tells us this is the way is has and always will be?  Could it be from those who are looking to other to make change yet taking no personal responsibility? No soul should be able to rest with the current state of our nation.

The constitution states we are all created equal and my bible teaches me that God created us all in His image, so who are we to determine otherwise?

The issues we are facing are deep seeded and can not be fixed through one means alone. It will take our churches, our schools, our businesses and our families to unite.  It will take prayer, honest conversation, education, legislation, a dismantling of systems of oppression that have been built for centuries; but most importantly it will require each of us to start with the man or woman in the mirror.  It requires us all to begin by assessing our own heart, our own biases, and acknowledging what part we play in the problem and in the solution.   It takes true confidence and courage to be the change we want to see in the world. If we want to see change in our world, it starts with us.
