Is it confirmation or procrastination?

I am ticked (but not really) when I talk to people of faith who tell me of their hopes, plans and dreams.  Oftentimes they speak with great passion and detail which is an indication that they have given it much thought. But somewhere along the line the conversation and the tune changes, usually ending with... but I am praying and waiting on confirmation from God. WHAT???? 

Now before I share my thoughts, which is all in love, let me start by saying I am an unapologetic woman of faith who believes in God and the power of prayer.  My life, my business and everything I strive to do is connected in some way to God and my overall desire to serve Him and glorify Him.  So with that out of the way, please know that I am all for a person seeking prayer and instructions from God.

However, I get stuck (can you so STUCK) when God has spoken and clearly given a person a vision or instructions, but they are still waiting on a confirmation.  What up with that? 

"I'm waiting on confirmation" sounds deep and super spiritual, however, I recognize it for what it is in most cases. The reality is many people hide behind a desire to seek "confirmation" and instead end up operating in procrastination.

Listen....I am not judging.  If this post is making you feel some kind of way, it's okay.  I'm trying to help you out.  You see, for a long time, I would work hard seeking the approval of others.  It went like this…God would give me instructions, and I would turn around and share them with someone else seeking support and a confirmation from them, when I had already received the only confirmation I needed which was that of God.

How many people do you think are waiting?  Waiting on God to send two rainbows, five butterflies and three Amens? Others are waiting for the clouds to part an audible voice from the heavens saying, “walk this way my child”.  Let me tell you something, while God can do all of this and then some, the reality is He doesn't have to.
He is God all by Himself.  He doesn’t have to repeat Himself and He surely doesn't NEED a confirmation from man.

If He has given you instructions to do something (i.e. get out of that toxic relationship, start that business, write that book, finish that project, etc.) you need to do it. PERIOD.  Don't allow procrastination to hold you back any longer.

I know, it may be a little scary or perhaps you feel ill equipped.  No matter what the circumstances are, if you know in your heart that you have heard from God, you better get to moving.  Simply take the first step. That's all He requires.  You don't have to have ALL the answers at this point.  You simply have to have the confidence and courage to step out on faith and follow where He leads.

My question for you today is what have you placed on the shelf or avoided doing because you were waiting on "confirmation"?  Well it's time to do it. Consider this your confirmation.
